AGW cause, “down the drain”…

The climate change global warming climate disruption agenda is all over bar the politics. When ‘former warmist’ climate scientist Judith Curry’s links are mostly about how the debate has changed, the links say it all. It’s only political science that’s left!

When the White House Science advisor,  eugenicist  John Holdren goes on the attack with a missed science agenda, the end is nigh. Professor Pielke Jnr, a Climate Scientist with a doctorate in Political Science is attacked, you know the AGW movement is finished.

John Holdren’s Epic Fail

by Roger Pielke, Jr

Last week in a Congressional hearing, John Holdren, the president’s science advisor, characterized me as being outside the “scientific mainstream” with respect to my views on extreme events and climate change. Specifically, Holdren was responding directly to views that I provided in Senate testimony that I gave last July (and here in PDF).

Holdren’s bio includes:

In 1977, Paul R. Ehrlich, Anne H. Ehrlich, and Holdren co-authored the textbook Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment; they discussed the possible role of a wide variety of means to address overpopulation, from voluntary family planning to enforced population controls, including compulsory abortion, adding sterilants to drinking water or staple foods, forced sterilization for women after they gave birth to a designated number of children, and discussed “the use of milder methods of influencing family size preferences” such as access to birth control and abortion.[20][30][31]

Holdren has to be the worst science adviser to the White House, ever. (Heh, the spellchecker suggested whitehouse should be whorehouse!) More: https://ia601506.us.archive.org/2/items/Ecoscience_17/JohnHoldren-Ecoscience.pdf

The Wall Street Journal concurs:

“These are indications of a political movement turned to defending its self-image as its cause goes down the drain. That’s how thoroughly defunct, dead, expired is the idea that humanity might take charge of earth’s atmosphere through some supreme triumph of the global regulatory state over democracy, sovereignty, nationalism and political self-interest, the very facts of political human nature.”

[…] Chevron‘s CVX -0.31% massive Gorgon gas project in the coastal waters of Australia is expected to cost $54 billion. Exxon, XOM +0.45% Shell and several others are spending $116 billion to get oil from under the Caspian Sea in a remote part of Kazakhstan. Not to be flip, but a battery 10 times more efficient than today’s would largely undermine the economics of these projects and make its inventor extraordinarily rich.

But engineering and venture capital (Mr. Steyer’s job until he retired a year ago) are hard work and require personal resilience, while the pleasure of climate warriorhood is sitting at your little blog and picturing yourself a moral hero whose opponents deserve to be silenced if not exterminated. In our time, climate activism has devolved into self-medication for the moderately mentally ill (and who’s to say this is not a useful service). Anyone genuinely concerned about the climate future might do better to get an engineering or finance degree.

Even warmist James Hansen has p***ed off the environmental lobby with his promotions of nuclear energy, but for the wrong reason. Judith Curry writes:

“Energy Realism Amid Climate Alarmism: James Hansen Rides Again’ (February 25, 2014)

“Is the Environmental Movement Net CO2 Positive? (James Hansen wants to know)” (February 24, 2014)

UPDATE, NASA tries to keep relevant with even more adjustments to past records: Busy Little Beavers At NASA

Changes to GISS US temperature just since Christmas. Always cooling the past and warming the present.
